The Romanesque in the Condado de Treviño is characterized by its elegance due to its late development, between the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th, which gave the temples subtle Gothic features. At least a dozen of them are worth a visit. Of all of them, the hermitage of the Purísima Concepción stands out, in San Vicentejo, (12 minutes by car from Suite Curry). It is often guarded by a herd of friendly foals .
From the later Gothic period, between the 13th and 14th centuries, dates the unique hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Peña , in Faido, (10 minutes by car), considered the cathedral of 'Cappadocia in Alava'. It is built inside a cave, excavated in the stone. It is the oldest Christian temple preserved in the Basque Country, which has made it a National Monument , and also the only one in Spain in which, seven centuries later, it occasionally maintains worship.
